Seriously, we have never had a bridezilla and we end up feeling like family by the time our couples run out the door as man and wife. The really cool perk, that we had not expected, is that we have also been included in the announcements for their first babies! Of course, if you follow our blog, you know I am a baby nut. I seriously cannot keep a conversation going when a baby comes in the room. My nephew, Jay, even said at Christmas that he was going to have to rent a baby just so I would talk to him because when my precious grandniece (is that a thing?) comes in the room, I run people over so I can hold her.  (Hi Livy! )

So, today we are thrilled to announce two new Bliss Babies.

On May 23, 2011, Jen and Jarrod Michoski became the proud parents of

adorable Charlie Daniel Michoski. Isn’t he a doll?

On November 11, 2011, David & Jessica Teed were thrill to bring

 sweet little Adelynne Lorraine Teed into their family!

Even their dog, Duncan, has welcomed her with love!

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for including us in these announcements. You are all dear to us and we reflect upon your sweet weddings often!

1. A beautiful bride that is relaxed and enjoying her special day….

2. Delicious and beautiful cakes. Every cake I have ever had from this bakery is better than the last…so they definitely rank as a fav!

3. If you know me at all, you would know that the guys are Fete are my fav florists! They have always done amazing work for me and recently rescued a possible disaster with my own son’s wedding. They rock!

4. A happy couple actually getting to eat the food at their wedding!

5. Now, I was raised by a die-hard Aggie and a couple of my own chickadees are Aggies so I am really going out on a limb with this one. But in the South, we take our school spirit seriously and even though I don’t share the Longhorn love, I can appreciate the passion that goes with school spirit….

..oh and gig’em…:)

6. Also, I adore babies and little children….so when you combine a darling little girl in a sweet dress twirling on the dance floor that is just a double dose of cute that melts my heart!

7. A bridal party that is having a good time…even if one bridesmaid is stuck in traffic and we had to put a stand in. Can you find Waldo?

I will give you a hint the dress is a little different and she doesn’t have flowers.

I love Top Chef, Project Runway and Flipping out. But my new obsession is the fault of my hairdresser. She told me about this show because she knows I love interior designs that are unique. But what she didn’t know is that I would become totally hooked on the show, Picker Sisters, on Lifetime.

I have been recording it and today I could not stand one more blistering hot day so I stayed home and caught up with the latest shows. As I watched it I thought, this is the younger version of Kathy and I when we are on the road planning weddings. Last week ,we did a whirlwind trip to Salado and the surrounding areas for a wedding we have scheduled for the Spring at TenRoc Ranch. In 2 days, we had meetings with 5 vendors in 4 cities. We also managed to get a little girl time in this tight schedule. We squeezed in shopping (your welcome, Elizabeth!), a movie “Crazy, Stupid Love” (save your money) and the quickest margarita and quesadillas known to man….(we drove far for these …we really wanted them)!

Our first visit was suppose to just be a site visit at TenRoc Ranch. Turns out we accidentally knocked on the back door of the owner and met the nicest lady, Linda Cornet. Just like most of the Southern  ladies we know, she was gracious and dressed fabulously for the day! We thoroughly enjoyed our chat with Linda. She filled us in the details of the ranch and then led us through her gorgeous home to show us where The Blue Heron Room was located. This is a breathtaking wedding venue and will be so perfect for our bride.

Next, we met Ginny Swalley of Creative Innovations. She did the flowers for George Bush’s daughter, Jenna. She had some funny stories to tell of that event. Turns out that they gave her a fake name so she would not alert the press. It was the same name as our bride. So when the Dallas wedding planners were coming to talk to her she wasn’t sure if she was doing another Bush wedding! If she was disappointed, she did not show it. In fact, she even arranged for us to sample appetizers and drinks at the local restaurant, The Range, next time we make it back to Salado.

We jumped in the car and headed for our next appointment which was with the caterer. We met with Kassie from Catering with a Twist and we had no idea that she and the chef were waiting for us with delicious…oh my goodness…so delicious, samples of our food choices. Our bride needs gluten-free and dairy-free foods. No one would ever feel deprived in any way with the foods that they prepared. It was so amazing that we even hinted we would love a doggie-bag (ok…I hinted) and we got it!! They love the vintage theme and had the most amazing suggestions. Without a doubt, Kathy and I looked at each other and said…this is the winner! They were so into our vintage theme that they are going to incorporate it into their presentation and they have even ordered retro aprons that they will wear. We loved their enthusiasm.

The next morning we made our usual Starbucks stop and then headed to meet Kim and Yvette at Amazing Kakes. They live up to their name. While Kathy & I were sitting down and admiring the cakes that they had displayed, we wondered why they had a drum set and a guitar set up in the middle…until we realized they were made of cake. Yes, they are that good. I can’t really tell you too much about what we decided there or I might ruin a surprise. But suffice it to say that the ladies there aim to please. Check our blog next march for the reveal!

It was so amazing that we tacked on a last minute visit to discuss linens and rentals just to see if our luck would hold out that we had booked all great vendors. We must be living right because it was another slam dunk. Confetti Rentals opened up for us even though they were closed that day and had everything we needed. We were back in the car in one hour and headed home for more bride meetings! It was fabulous!

He made his appearance on July 2, 2011, weighing in at 8lb, 14 oz..

Congrats to his parents, Kelly and Mike and grandparents, Mickey and Charyl!

But on July 1st, 2011 at the Crescent Hotel, I had a rare privilege. I watched my firstborn, Cameron, marry an answer to a prayer. A couple of years ago, God brought Kelsey into his life and we are all the richer for it. Cameron and Kelsey said their vows in a beautiful ceremony in The Crescent Club of the Rosewood Crescent Hotel. It was absolutely a day of joy and love. My son found a precious woman that adores him and the feeling is very mutual. (See video in previous blog if you doubt that!) After a tender and very personal ceremony, officiated by Kelsey’s big brother, Brandon, the couple practically floated down the aisle to the pianist singing “This Will Be An Everlasting Love”….how perfect is that. Guests were then invited to the gorgeous wood paneled bar for cocktail hour while watching a beautiful sun set against the backdrop of downtown Dallas. The pianist continued to entertain, while the guests enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres and the photographer, Matthew of matthewmoorephotography.com  took a few family pictures. Guests were invited to sign the monogrammed tray in lieu of the traditional book.

Then Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Murdoch were introduced to the dance floor, for their first  dance as husband and wife, to the song “Marry Me”. While Cameron twirled Kelsey in her beautiful gown, my friends hugged me and we celebrated the fact that Cameron had truly met his princess.

Following their first dance, everyone was invited to pick up their escort card and enter the ballroom for dinner.

The sun was setting and the floor to ceiling palladium windows were a lovely backdrop behind the head table.

Kathy Miller, my partner in Wedding Day Bliss, not only coordinated the evening but she and Fete Des Fleur did the gorgeous purple, pink and green arrangements. The room looked breathtakingly beautiful with candles everywhere.

Following dinner, toasts were made by the Best Man, Cameron’s brother, Taylor and The Maid of Honor, Cameron’s sister, Elizabeth.

The couple decided to forgo the traditional bouquet and garter tosses to allow the guests more time to dance. The dancefloor was not empty all night, with the bar at one end and the photo booth at the other this place was hopping.

 

All too soon it was time for the happy couple to depart.

As they ran out to a white 1984 Mercedes convertible, they were showered with purple flower petals. Right before they took off, Kelsey called out to her new sister, Elizabeth and threw her the bouquet from the convertible as a last minute surprise.

 Then the couple drove off to live happily ever after.
